Evergreen Trees
Evergreen trees are the first choice for creating a living fence privacy hedge. Many taller growing varieties often lend themselves to light pruning for a more compact hedge. One of our newer evergreen trees has quickly become one of Greenwood Nursery's best selling plants is the Carolina Sapphire Cypress, which is also one of our quick growing evergreen plants and perfect alone as a specimen plant or privacy hedge. Conifers such as Norway Spruce, White Pines and Emerald Green Arborvitae (also offered as one gallon size), are offered as bare root evergreen seedlings which are less expensive than container grown evergreen plants. Taller growing trees such as the Thjua Green Giants can be spaced 5 to 8 feet apart for faster growing privacy hedges. If you're looking to build a windbreak in a wide open area where space isn't a problem, consider using White Pine Trees or Norway Spruce Trees. These two evergreen tree varieties are taller and wider growing. Though they are more moderate growers, this allows them to become strong with a long life span. Carolina Sapphire Cypress and Thuja Green Giants are our most popular Evergreen Trees that can be used as either specimen plants in the landscape or as privacy hedges.
