NEW! Denudata Bamboo – Fargesia denudata, is similar to bamboo umbrella in form and color but has shorter branches and smaller leaves, which cause the gracefully arching canes to stand out individually. Like all other Fargesias, it does not have running rhizomes and needs no containment to prevent spread. It looks best when planted in an area that gets afternoon shade or dappled sunlight throughout the day. It will remain evergreen throughout the year. It does not have leaves that yellow and drop in the fall, making it a greener plant through the winter. Like other Fargesias, it is a clumping bamboo and is happy with some protection from hot afternoon sun. It is mostly suitable for areas that have the cooling in nighttime hours more common in Northern states, not in Southern states. Growing from ten to fifteen feet in height it will provide a nice hedge or screen at maturity when planted in groups. This specimen is hardy to -10°F and grows well in zones 6 through 9 though extremely hot and humid sites should be avoided. If you are looking for a non-running evergreen to add color and flair to your garden or terrace this is the one. Bamboo, often thought to be an exotic, is now becoming part of the new generation’s landscapes.
Shipped in ONE-GALLON containers.

Francis Williams, Hosta - Cheryl and I enjoy this plant so much we have 6 of them in our garden. Our plants are placed along a brick path, right under our pergola. I can certainly understand why this is called the classic Hosta.
